This is a short, plain description of exactly what is collected and why — not a template padded out with things we don't actually do.

It sets no cookie, assigns no ID that could identify you or follow you elsewhere, and Plausible's own service is built specifically not to. Those counts are routed through this website's own domain, so your browser never connects to their servers directly — the counts still reach them, because they are the service that stores them, but nothing on your device ever talks to a third party. That's the complete list. No advertising trackers, no third-party cookies, no fingerprinting, and nothing here can identify you individually.
Your quiz answers, streaks, XP, and badges are stored only in your own browser's local storage — never sent to, or seen by, any server we operate. Clearing your browser data erases them; we have no copy to restore from, which is why the app has its own local backup/restore feature.
Polar.sh processes your payment and acts as merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. When you subscribe, the auto-renewal consent checkbox you check is recorded — as a timestamp, on the subscription record Polar already holds — so there's proof you agreed to it; that's the only new thing checking the box adds to what Polar stores. If you arrived through a tagged link (for example from a video or a launch page), or tell us how you heard about Cyber Basics on the screen after you subscribe, that one word is kept the same way — as a note on your subscription at Polar — so we can see which channels bring people here. It is never a tracker, it is written only if you subscribe, and the question can be skipped. Polar's own privacy policy governs the payment information they hold — see polar.sh/legal/privacy.
Sign-in emails, and one reminder email about a month before your subscription renews each year, are sent through a transactional email provider (Resend). They receive your email address only for the purpose of delivering that message.
The app is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, their infrastructure sees the technical data every web request carries — your IP address and browser details — in order to deliver the page and protect the service. We don't use that data to identify or track you, and we run no analytics on it.
Your email is kept for as long as your account exists, so you can keep signing in. To have it deleted, contact us — see below.
Cyber Basics is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
This section is the account-deletion page for Cyber Basics (published by VIDANALYTICA INC). There are two ways to delete, and both delete the same things.
What is deleted: your e-mail address as an account key, your session, and any subscription, gift or family-seat record we hold for it. Practice progress only ever lived in your own browser, so clearing that is in your hands.
What is kept, and why: our payment processor, Polar, retains the invoices and payment records the law requires it to keep, for as long as it requires them. We do not keep a copy. Nothing else is retained.
