Cyber Basics is an interactive online-safety education tool. A paid subscription gives access to all of its drills and study briefs for as long as the subscription stays active.
Cyber Basics is not offered in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom. The service, including its free preview, is not available from those regions, and no subscription can be purchased there.
The service is also not available in, and may not be purchased from or used in, any jurisdiction subject to a comprehensive United States embargo, or by anyone on a U.S. government restricted-party list.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Cyber Basics is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 18, use the service with a parent's or guardian's permission — they should review these terms with you.
The subscription is $12/year, charged once a year — described as "about $1/month" because that's what it works out to, not because it's billed monthly. It renews automatically each year at $12/year unless you cancel first; subscribing requires checking a separate box confirming you understand that. During the beta launch (through December 1, 2026), the first year is discounted to $6 — that discount applies to the first year only, and every renewal after it is at the regular $12/year. The exact price you'll pay, and the renewal price, are both shown again at checkout before you pay. About a month before each renewal, we'll email a reminder stating the price, that it renews yearly, and how to cancel. Payment is processed by Polar.sh, who act as the merchant of record — your payment relationship is with them, not directly with VIDANALYTICA INC.
A gift subscription is a one-time charge to the buyer's payment method for one year of access for the recipient named at checkout. It does not renew and nothing is charged again for it. When payment completes we email the recipient a sign-in link; if they want to continue after their year, they can subscribe on their own, in their own name.
The family plan is a separate $24/year subscription for up to three people. The person who subscribes can add up to two additional email addresses from inside the app; each added person signs in with their own email and has full access, at no separate charge. Adding someone does not require their consent beforehand — the plan owner is responsible for who they add — but each added person is notified by email and can be removed by the plan owner at any time. The family plan does not include the beta discount and is not giftable.
Signed-in subscribers can generate a personal referral link. Someone who subscribes through that link gets 50% off for as long as they remain subscribed; the referrer receives a $1 credit toward their own next renewal once the referred subscription is confirmed. A referral link encodes the referrer's identity in a form only our systems can read — it is not their plaintext email address.
You can manage or cancel at any time from the "Manage / cancel subscription" link inside the app, or from the link in your Polar receipt email — either one opens the same account page. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for; cancelling does not retroactively refund that period. See the Refund Policy for the one exception to that.
Signing in only requires an email address — no password. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that email is used for.
Progress, streaks and badges are stored only in your browser, not on a server. Clearing your browser data erases them; the app's own backup/restore feature is the only way to keep a copy.
Cyber Basics teaches well-established, universal online-safety practices, in the app's own words. It is not legal, security, or professional advice for your specific situation, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency.
These terms may be updated as the service changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If we can't resolve a dispute informally — write to us first, we do answer — it belongs to the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
